About Babelectro

This residency is designed for both emerging and established artist who are already experienced with their instruments, but want to develop and expand their knowledge
and practical skills in the field of electronic music.

This program doesn’t prescribe or force participants into a particular method, style, or genre. It’s a Contemporary Music programme where participants are free to play and create the kind of music they are interested in.

That said, there is definitely an appreciation for music that is more experimental and personal. In this context, the program is to work with acoustic instruments,
improvisation and composition, while introducing participants to explore how they can use electronics according to their own musical taste and interests. It is not about
moving towards making EDM or electronic music as a genre, but rather about expanding what participating musicians can do with their instruments and their own musical ideas through electronics.

Participants will have the opportunity to join masterclasses and workshops, including individual courses from 10 esteemed teachers and masters from across the continent.

The program is based on:

  • Individual or small group workshops based on instruments
  • Improvisation, creative technologies and the development of individual artistic practice
  • Live Act / Live Set performances
  • Real time live music with analog synthesizers
  • Generative Music
  • Electroacoustic music and modular synthesis
  • Sound design and live electronics
  • Training in both DAW and DAW-free creative workflows
And of course late evening jam sessions will also take place every day at Babel Camp, at the beautiful lake Balaton, in Hungary.
